In Mariánské Lazně (Marienbad) Karel (?) Stark daguerreotyped Pavel Josef Šafařík and Michail Petrovič Pogodin. The daguerreotypes are the oldest preserved photographical portraits made directly in Bohemia. The Bohemia newspaper from 25. 9. 1842 mentioned the successful Stark’s stay in Mariánské Lázně.
