Ladislav (Ladislaus) Weinek (1848-1913), a director of an astronomical observatory and a significant photographer-astronomer, who became renowned because ho was apparently first to photograph an asteroid (1885), founded the Astronomical Photographic Institute at the Prague Observatory.
